Wayside Theatre Presents Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure

Wayside Theatre will open it 5th show of the 2010-2011 Season, with the world premiere of the musical, Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure. The production will star local musical sensation, Robbie Limon, and feature many of Wayside Theatre's favorite musical talents who have delighted audiences throughout the last several seasons. The musical is a mix of "Ole time" songs, Bluegrass, Gospel, and Jazz. The performance is sponsored by Anytime Fitness- Strasburg.

The musical, Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure is a prequel to the original Southern Crossroads which had its world premiere at Wayside Theatre in January 2009. Created by Artistic Director Warner Crocker and Resident Musical Director Steve Przybylski, the story of the prequel is set in The Great Depression, and once again follows the stories and music of The Green Family Singers as they follow their brother Rusk to New Orleans to try and make a living playing the music they know and love. Arriving in New Orleans, the Green Family discovers that all is not well in the Big Easy as Le Soleil, the establishment where they were scheduled to play, is about to be closed due to Hard Times and some shady business dealings. Away from home and penniless in what they discover is a culture completely different than their own, the Green Family uses its musical magic to find ways to Let the Good Times Roll in the face of often insurmountable odds.

The cast of veteran actors: Robbie Limon (Southern Crossroads, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story), Steve Przybylski (Southern Crossroads, Smoke on the Mountain series, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Hank Williams: Lost Highway), Vaughn Irving (Southern Crossroads, Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story, Forever Plaid, A Christmas Carol,), Thomasin Savaiano (Southern Crossroads, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Always Patsy Cline, Smoke on the Mountain series), Bob Payne (A Christmas Carol, A Murder, A Mystery and A Marriage, Shenandoah, Cotton Patch Gospel, Smoke on the Mountain), Michael Reid (A Christmas Carol, A Murder, A Mystery and A Marriage), Kathryn Yacko (Shenandoah, Deadman's Cell Phone, A Murder, A Mystery and A marriage, A Christmas Carol), Eddie Staver III (A Christmas Carol, A Murder, A Mystery and A Marriage, Shenandoah, Harvey), Aaron Mann (A Christmas Carol, A Murder, A Mystery and A Marriage, Shenandoah), and a new comer, Chris Blissett.

The production is directed by Warner Crocker and musical directed by Steve Przybylski. The Set Designed by Rick Hesson, Costume Design by Tamara Carruthers and Lighting Design by Wes Calken.

Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure will begin performances on Saturday, January 29 at 2:30 PM and. Opening Night is Sunday, January 30 at 6:30 pm. The Saturday, January 29 at 7:30 PM performance is a fundraiser event for The Clarke County Rotary Club. The remaining schedule of performances is Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday's at 2:30 pm. Sunday matinees will begin on February 13th, no Sunday matinee on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6th. Ticket prices are $30 to $25 dollars for adults. Prices for children 5 to 17 are $10 for any performance. Ask about discounts available for students and seniors. Group discounts are also available.
