The Wayside Theatre Artist Director, Warner Crocker announced today that the T. Carter Fussell Awards recipients. Awards were presented to the individual winners from the local High School's prior to Thursday, June 9th performance of "Reunion, A Musical Epic in Miniature." The following area High Schools participated in the T Carter Fussell Program 2010-2011 school year: James Wood High School, Millbrook High School, John Handley High School, Clarke County High School, Warren County High School, Skyline High School, Central High School, and Chelsea Academy.
The T. Carter Fussell Awards are presented to students in local High School productions to recognize the Outstanding Achievement in High School dramatic or musical performances in ALL areas, student directing, costuming, ensemble, set, acting, etc. This is a non-competitive award which spot-lights the outstanding efforts of individual students or ensembles in all aspects of presenting, preparing and performing in a play/musical at their High School.
Crocker said, "We look forward every year to presenting these awards to young thespians for their achievements in all areas of dramatic arts in our local schools. Most do not receive the recognition they deserve for all the hard work, as well as, the multi-level learning that collaborating on a production offers a student. The production helps each participant to utilize what they have learned in English, History, Math, Science, Music and Art classes, as well as, the students experience the team effort and the creation necessary for a production."
