Thursday - Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m. All performances will be in the McVey Theatre at St. Catherine's School at 6001 Grove Avenue, Richmond, VA 23226.

THE PLAY
"We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep."
Prospero, The Tempest

One of Shakespeare's last plays, The Tempest is a rich and powerful story about magic and redemption. The action centers around Prospero, a powerful sorcerer betrayed by his brother and exiled to a tiny island with his daughter, where he plots his revenge and his return to power. In the process, he struggles to find grace and redemption and must face his own mortality. Haunting and often hilarious, The Tempest is considered to be among Shakespeare's finest works.

"How beautiful mankind is! O brave new world, that has such people in it!"
Miranda, The Tempest

FEATURES--
The show is directed by James Alexander Bond, RTCC-nominated director of King Lear, and stars Charley Raintree, RTCC-nominee (Actor in a Supporting Role - King Lear) as a younger and more virile Prospero than audiences are used to seeing in the leading role.
The Tempest was clearly inspired by the eyewitness account by William Strachey of a shipwreck off the coast of Bermuda in 1609. Survivors of the wreck made their way to Virginia.
St. Catherine's student, Isabelle Andrews, and Appomattox Regional Governor's School student, Daniel Kunkel, are featured as the teenage lovers Miranda and Ferdinand.
An abridged family matinee for children of all ages will be offered on March 16 at 3 p.m.
The Tempest is Richmond Shakespeare's submission to the Richmond Acts of Faith Festival, the largest faith-based theatre festival in the country. A talkback will take place Sunday, March 10, after the matinee performance, led by The Rev. Mr. Timothy C. Goodman.
