Richmond CenterStage Announces The 2012-13 U.S. TRUST Life is a Cabaret! Series, Beginning in October

Richmond CenterStage today announced the lineup for its second annual U.S. TRUST Life is a Cabaret! Series: A Celebration of the Great American Song Book, which will begin on October 18 with Virginia's own Desiree Roots.

Presented by U.S. TRUST, CenterStage's sleek and sophisticated Rhythm Hall will set the stage for a series of intimate performances, complete with cabaret tables where patrons can enjoy personal food and beverage service while experiencing world-class entertainment right here in Richmond.

"We're thrilled to present such a diverse group of performers in our second Cabaret season here at CenterStage," Executive Director Richard M. Parison, Jr. said. "Each signature artist brings a unique musical perspective on the American Songbook. Whether it is Amanda McBroom's rendition of her GRAMMY Award-winning song 'The Rose' or Molly Ringwald's jazz influenced pop standards -- this impressive list of artists will build on the success of our inaugural season!"

Season Tickets are now available for this series by calling 804-592-3401.

Single Tickets for individual Cabarets will go on sale in September. Prices for all performances are below:
Lounge Seating: $27
Reserved Ticket: $40
Inner Circle Single Ticket: $52
Inner Circle Season Ticket: $208
Table Season Ticket: $135

Desiree Roots is well known to Richmond audiences and throughout the Eastern Seaboard for her magnificent theatrical and vocal talent. Desiree is the daughter of the late Jimmy Roots, the well-known pianist/singer from Virginia – so from an early age she was surrounded by musicians as she sang her way through the Great American Song Book.

Desiree has charmed audiences across the country as a dynamic and versatile singer and entertainer. She continues to dazzle with her interpretations of soul, jazz, theatre and pop music in an intimate cabaret setting. Don't miss this Richmond daughter in her CenterStage debut!

Tony DeSare
November 16 & 17, 2012 – 7 p.m.
November 18, 2012 – 2 p.m.

Singer, pianist and songwriter Tony DeSare – whose third CD Radio Show, was released by Telarc Records earlier this year – was named a "Rising Star" Male Vocalist in the 2010 Downbeat Critics Poll. Tony has won critical and popular acclaim for his concert performances throughout the United States as well as in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. DeSare's noted vocal versatility thrills audiences from major jazz rooms like Birdland and the Blue Note to posh nightclubs like the Café Carlyle and Feinstein's at the Regency.

"DeSare belongs to a group of neo-traditional upstarts stretching from Harry Connick, Jr. to Michael Bublé," raves the New York Times. Tony performs with such infectious joy, wry playfulness, and robust musicality – you will see how he has earned his reputation as one of country's hottest young singer/pianists.

Molly Ringwald
